holiday reads + suddenly nonfiction november? | Reading Updates | November 2020

Man, I have been in such a weird reading mood lately.

To get over my reading slump, I re-subscribed to Kindle Unlimited and decided to hoard some festive reads since it’s officially the holiday season. (In our part of the world, the minute Halloween ends, it’s pretty much already Christmas. My playlist is ready.)

But while I was browsing the KU selections, there were some nonfiction books that caught my eye. I had zero intentions of participating in #NonfictionNovember, but seeing as I have a few interesting memoirs in my digital library, I guess I’m joining in the fun late as always.

So far I’ve read two sapphic holiday romances. You can check out the reviews I have for them if you’re feeling gay and festive. My current read is a memoir that inserts aspects of self-help between chapters. It’s about the author’s experience with anorexia nervosa and her road to recovery. I have another one in my library that is along the same themes.

Mental health memoirs, specifically eating disorder ones, are my favorite types and pretty much the only nonfiction books I read. I’m not a fan of self-help books, but the author’s little “Self-Love Gems” are really cute (and surprisingly constructive). Review to come, I guess!

After this memoir, I’ll be reading a hetero romance before I dive into more sapphic reads again. I really don’t have any achillean holiday books on my “winter” TBR. Do you guys have any recommendations? Please do leave a comment, if ever!

This is just a quick update on my suddenly shifting reading plans.

Hopefully the rest of the year is a good one for everyone! Don’t forget to drink lots of water and wear your masks when going outside. Please stay safe!
